Thanks to your generosity, we were able to fill 145 backpacks to give to the children of CHUM. Due to the savvy shopping of the youth groups, we also gave $1,000 in gift cards to CHUM to purchase additional needed items. That’s not all! The remaining donations of $900 will be given to Life House ($450) and the Boys & Girls Club ($450).
Lakeside Presbyterian Women Fall Mission
The mission for LPW through November will be the Duluth area food shelves. The Emergency Food Shelf was organized in 1979 by the Duluth Food and Nutrition Council as a means to distribute food to families affected by the serious economic recession of the late 1970s. The Shelf became the responsibility of CHUM in 1981 and expanded to a second site in West Duluth in 1982 and a third site in Lakeside in 2012 (www.chumduluth.org). Since 2008 food shelf use has increased 70%. There will be a box in fellowship hall for donations of cash and food.
